Pianist Diane Huling

Vermont concert pianist Diane Huling will perform a solo recital at the Barre Opera House Sunday, October 11th at 3PM.  Her program will include works by Rachmaninoff, Bach,Scarlatti and Chopin and will feature the last sonata of Beethoven, op. 111.  Considered unplayable during Beethoven’s day, this sonata is a tour de force, using classic style and form, but foreshadowing the Romantic era that followed.

Huling, a resident of Cabot, has performed in Europe, South America and the Eastern United States to critical acclaim. Reviews of both her solo and chamber music concerts have described her playing as “crystalline,” (New York Times)  and “she is one of the best pianists in Vermont, and maybe even New England.” (Times Argus)  and [she]makes music with intelligence.” (Boston Globe)
