The Barre Opera House continues its tradition of showcasing Ireland’s finest young bands when it welcomes We Banjo 3 to the TD Bank Celebration Series on Saturday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.
We Banjo 3 blends traditional Irish Music with Americana and Bluegrass affectionately described as “Celtgrass.” Featuring banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals and percussion, We Banjo 3 includes two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley. The quartet boasts a 7-time All-Ireland banjo champ, a 4-time banjo champ, an All-Ireland winner on both fiddle and bodhran and a passionate young guitarist/vocalist. Collectively they are among the most celebrated and distinguished musicians in Ireland today have established themselves as one of the best live bands in the country.
We Banjo 3’s rousing revelry, sheer virtuosity, power, passion and purpose have made brought them fame in their home country and now they’re taking the rest of the world by storm. Their August 2016 release, “String Theory,” earned the #1 position on Billboard’s World Music Chart, and top honors from the Irish Music Right’s Organization. They have also garnered Album of the Year accolades from The Irish Times.
